Guide to UX & Usability Testing

Usability testing is an invaluable tool for evaluating the effectiveness and ease of use of academic library Web sites. Usability testing can be divided into three categories: inquiryinspection, and formal usability testing. While the first and last involve real users, the second does not. The term “usability testing” encompasses numerous methods of evaluating site usability (Battleson, 2001). In the context of Web site and user experience, inquiry involves requesting information about a particular site from different methods.. Methods of inquiry include website analytics, in which web analytics measure various collection, analysis and reporting of web data for purposes of understanding and optimizing consumers’ interaction. Eye tracking is the second method and it’s important because some behaviours are difficult to analysis on the data basis. Interviews and focus groups are also structured methods of inquiry which are used to gather information about users’ experiences and preferences. While surveys and questionnaires may also be used to gather such information, interviews and focus groups allow for more interaction with the users and for immediate answers to questions raised during the interview or focus group (Battleson, 2001).

Impacts of User Experience

The interest of integrating the User Experience Design (UXD) into agile methodology practices has been increased in the last decade in order to provide high quality user experience, and usability as an important item to add more value to the software (Choma, 2016). UX design is plays a very important role for websites, As UX design mentions about the experience of any user who interacted with the product. UX is key most factor which websites use, because website as a product whole, its very important for them to have the knowledge about their user experience so that they can have information about the positioning of their product. user experience can also help websites to attract more and more traffic on their websites which will help the website to grow more viewers and subscribers, user experience works as a marketing and advertising tool for a website. Where user experience is an advantage for websites, it can be also a limitation for the same product. User experience can also lead to low traffic on any website as, every website cannot have positive experience and in the current scenario, each and every user experience matter to every user before they consume the product or visit the website as it describes them about other experiences. UX plays a vital role in current scenario as it helps to fulfil other user’s needs, it aims to provide positive experiences that keep users loyal to the product or brand. Additionally, a meaningful user experience allows you to define customer journeys on your website that leads to a business success (Evan, 2018).

Resultant Recommendations:

If someone is truly trying to accomplish something with their website (e.g., brand awareness, lead generation, etc.), they will need to focus on more than just how your website looks. In a world, where there are more than a billion websites, anyone can potentially land on, one’s need to make sure your website’s design is optimized for usability (how easy your website is to use) and user experience (how enjoyable interacting with your website is for actual users). Recommending some key points for a good website design are for example: website needs to be understandable, users can understand your website easily and quickly, it should not be too complicated, the second and foremost is quality and quantity content, any website which is related to any specific product should have qualitative as well quantitative product so that users can find a good quality content. Colours play an important role in our life, good and attractive colour contemplate should be used in any websites. For a good user experience, any website should need to give good services as well, as user experience are just not experiences, it’s now becoming user stories.
